Is It Still Safe to Buy an xTool S1, D1, or M1, and How Long Will They Be Supported?

Published · Updated · By the Laser Lineup editors

Summary

xTool discontinued the D1 series on January 1, 2025, and announced the M1's departure from its U.S. store at the end of April 2025. Before buying any of these models, compare sales status, parts support and security support separately. As checked on October 21, 2026, xTool lists the S1 as supported until at least October 31, 2026; that is a published minimum date, not a confirmed shutdown date.

Security-support dates were checked against xTool's official table on October 21, 2026. All three are listed as supported on that date. xTool's dates are UTC calendar dates and represent a minimum commitment to handling vulnerabilities and providing free security updates. Published end dates may be extended but never shortened. The S1 has the earliest minimum date of these three models; check the current official table before buying.

The S1 stock information in the table is a September 23, 2026 snapshot, not a live availability check. The security-support period is a separate issue from sales availability and the parts arrangements described below.

Parts after discontinuation

For the D1 series, xTool says it will keep supplying replacement parts and technical help. If it can't provide a part needed for a repair, it offers a refund based on the product's condition or a discount equal to 100% of the original order toward a new xTool laser while under warranty, and a 50% discount once out of warranty. Exclusive D1 Pro accessories, including the extension kit, laser modules, and lenses, were supplied only until January 10, 2026.

The M1 announcement makes a similar promise. If parts can't be supplied during the warranty period, xTool offers a discount equal to 100% of the original order, a refurbished machine of similar value, or a partial refund. M1-specific accessories such as the 45° blade, air assist, and cutting mats were supplied until March 10, 2026.

What each machine is

The S1 is an enclosed diode laser. Its work area is 498 × 330 mm on the 20W model and 498 × 319 mm on the 40W, it runs at up to 600 mm/s, and it weighs 20 kg. The product page lists single-pass cuts of up to 18 mm cherry wood on the 40W and 10 mm on the 20W, and it works with xTool Studio. The D1 and D1 Pro are open-frame machines.

The M1 pairs a laser with a cutting blade. Its xTool Studio guide covers blade cutting for kraft paper, stickers, and leather, and a print-and-cut mode that trims printed designs with the blade. Both need a cutting mat.
