AtomStack Makes a Lot of Lasers. Which One Fits What You Want to Make?

Published · By the Laser Lineup editors

Summary

AtomStack's model numbers don't form a simple ladder. The machines split into roles by laser type and size. For cutting wood at scale, look at a large diode machine like the A40 Pro V2. For personalizing small items in an enclosed machine, the P1, which AtomStack sells as an FDA Class 1 laser. For portable work that includes metal, the M4 Pro. For metal marking over a large area, the A20 Pro 1064nm fiber laser.

The P1 for small items

The P1 is fully enclosed and sold as an FDA Class 1 laser. It won't run without its USB key inserted, stops if the door isn't closed properly, and has a gyroscope that halts the job if the machine tilts. The work area is 110 × 110 mm (105 × 100 mm for the infrared laser), items can be up to 50 mm tall, and the machine weighs 3 kg. The 5W diode cuts 3 mm basswood plywood in one pass. Both versions work with AtomStack Studio and LightBurn.

Three ways to engrave metal

The P1 Dual's 1.2W infrared laser is the version for stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and other metals.

The M4 Pro combines a 10W diode and a 2W infrared laser and can be used handheld or on a desk. Handheld, its 1064 nm beam is invisible, so safety glasses rated for 1064 nm and the 455 nm diode are needed for the user and anyone nearby. It weighs 2.8 kg handheld and 4.8 kg in desktop form. The work area is 100 × 100 mm, and AtomStack rates it for cuts up to 8 mm wood and 5 mm black acrylic.

The A20 Pro 1064nm is a 20W fiber laser with a 400 × 400 mm work area and a top speed of 400 mm/s. Focus is set by hand, and the same eye protection applies unless it runs inside an enclosure.
